What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable filler that can smooth deep wrinkles and lines, as well as restore volume loss in the face. It contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a synthetic material that adds volume and stimulates new collagen production deep in the dermis. This allows for the results of Sculptra to last longer than hyaluronic acid fillers.

The most common areas treated with Sculptra include:

  • Smiles lines
  • Marionette lines
  • Chin wrinkles

Who is a Candidate?

Healthy adults 18 years or older who are interested in smoothing lines and wrinkles in the face are often good candidates for Sculptra. However, those who have a history of keloid scarring or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not undergo this treatment. Give our office a call today to schedule a consultation appointment to learn more regarding candidacy.

The Sculptra Treatment

Before your Sculptra treatment, your provider will apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment site to reduce any discomfort during injection. Next, a very fine needle will be used to inject the Sculptra into the designated areas. Your injector will massage the treatment area to help distribute the Sculptra and prevent the formation of lumps under the skin. Treatment typically takes 20-30 minutes to complete.

Sculptra Results

There is no downtime needed after treatment, so you can return to your regular activities right away. Bruising, swelling, and redness are to be expected, which will resolve with time. A small ice pack can be applied to the injection site several times a day to reduce any swelling. Sculptra results can last up to 2-3 years.
